About Wings Raptor Center

History

Wings Raptor Center officially opened its doors in September 2025. Our rehabilitation center is located in the small town and community of Cambridge, WI. We rescue and rehabilitate injured, ill, and orphaned birds of prey such as hawks, owls, and kestrels. We are licensed by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources and federally permitted by the US Fish and Wildlife Service. We are committed to our patients, and our goal is to give them the best chance of a successful return to the wild. We are a volunteer, non-profit 501(c) 3 organization. Together, we can continue to work towards the conservation and preservation of these magnificent birds of prey. Your generous contributions make a significant difference. We are thankful for the support from individuals and families who truly care about wildlife and believe in our mission and our values.

Meet the Founder and Director

Kathleen Deinlein has been a member of the Cambridge community for the past 28 years. She has always had a love for animals and was the business owner of a boarding kennel for cats and dogs up until last year when she made the decision to open Wings Raptor Center. In 2018 Kathleen began volunteering at the Dane County Humane Society's Wildlife Center, and this motivated her to seek a career in rehabilitation. She is grateful for the training and mentoring that she has received and is dedicated to continuing to offer her volunteer services.
Kathleen obtained her advanced rehabilitation license. She is a member of three professional wildlife organizations: international, national, and state levels. She continues her training and education by networking with other wildlife rehabilitators, veterinary professionals, attending conferences, and connecting with experts from the Raptor Center at the University of Minnesota.
